America Appoints Another Chargé d’ Affaires


MONROVIA: Kristin Gilmore is a career Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State and returning to U.S. Embassy Monrovia as Chargé d’ Affaires. She first served in Liberia from 2007 to 2009.

She replaced another Charge’ d’ Affaires, Joe Zadrozny, who has also been serving as both Charge’ d’ Affaires an interim and Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S Embassy in Monrovia since August 2025.

The new Charge’ d’ Affaires, Kristin’s most recent assignment was Deputy Senior Director of the White House Situation Room.

There, she led a team of 80 civilian, military, and contract staff that enabled 24/7/365 support for the President and National Security Council.

Prior to that, she served as Deputy Director of the Executive Secretariat’s Advance and Staffing Division, also known as the Line.

Overseas, Kristin has served as the Public Affairs Officer at U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou and the Macroeconomic Unit Chief and Labor Officer at U.S. Embassy Beijing.

Prior to China, she was a Senior Watch Officer in the State Department’s 24-hour Operations Center and before that the Director of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at U.S. Embassy Nassau.

Kristin has also served in Iraq and Colombia. She was the winner of the State Department’s 2021 Arnold L. Raphel Award for her work mentoring entry level officers.

Kristin received her BA in English with an additional major in International Relations from Carnegie Mellon University, MA in African Studies from Yale University, and MS in National Security Strategy from the National War College.
