TARJUOWON DISTRICT: More than 500 residents of Tarjuowon Statutory District, Sinoe County, have benefited immensely from a major free medical outreach initiative, bringing critical healthcare services, medication, and renewed hope to underserved rural communities.
The William Gbobee Tarjuo Foundation, a local non-profit organization committed to humanitarian service and community empowerment, has successfully concluded a week-long medical outreach program that provided free healthcare services to hundreds of residents across Tarjuowon Statutory District.
The outreach, which ended on June 9, 2026, marked the second major medical intervention organized by the Foundation in the district and significantly strengthened healthcare access for vulnerable and underserved populations living in remote communities where medical services remain limited.
A total of 513 residents benefited from the initiative, receiving free medical consultations, diagnoses, treatment, and essential medications for a variety of common but potentially serious health conditions.
The outreach brought relief to elderly citizens, children, low-income families, and individuals who otherwise could not afford proper medical care due to financial hardship and the lack of nearby healthcare facilities.
Speaking during the conclusion of the program, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Justin J.S. Tarjuo, emphasized that the organization’s humanitarian mission is deeply rooted in Christian values and inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ as reflected in Matthew 25:35-40.
According to him, the outreach forms part of the Foundation’s broader vision to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged communities while extending compassion and support to those most in need.
“The medical outreach is one of the Foundation’s key humanitarian activities intended to improve access to healthcare for underserved populations, especially in rural communities, where medical services are extremely limited,” Mr. Tarjuo stated.
“We intentionally focused on helping the elderly, children, and struggling families who often cannot afford treatment or medication.”
Residents across the district expressed profound appreciation to the Foundation and medical team for what many described as a timely and lifesaving intervention.
One beneficiary described the outreach as a blessing for struggling families in the area. “This outreach came at a very critical time for my family,” the resident said. “We were able to receive treatment and medication that we could not have afforded on our own. We are grateful to the Foundation for remembering our community.”
The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining periodic humanitarian and social support programs aimed at improving healthcare, education, and general community welfare throughout Sinoe County and beyond.
Mr. Tarjuo disclosed that the Foundation remains determined to expand its impact by continuing programs that directly address critical social and health-related challenges affecting vulnerable populations.
“The William Gbobee Tarjuo Foundation will continue to support programs that improve the well-being of our people and respond to the pressing needs of communities,” he added.
Beyond healthcare, the Foundation has also made significant contributions to education in the district.
Its first major initiative focused on sponsoring 23 students enrolled in public schools within the district. For the upcoming academic year, the Foundation has increased the number of beneficiaries to 28 students and will fully cover their school fees and provide all necessary educational supplies, in continuation of support previously given to the first group of students.
Meanwhile, the man who headed the medical team, Dr. Augustus Wleh Darkoteh, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve disadvantaged communities and pledged his continued support to the Foundation’s humanitarian efforts.
Darkoteh said, he remains committed to providing professional medical services to underprivileged people whenever he is called upon.
Meanwhile, the successful outreach has further elevated the William Gbobee Tarjuo Foundation as one of the emerging community-based humanitarian organizations, making meaningful contributions to healthcare delivery and educational support in rural Liberia.
