Monrovia: Criminal Court “C” at the Temple of Justice has scheduled a hearing for June 23, 2026, in a case involving former Chief of Protocol, Nora Finda Bundoo and the government’s Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force (AREPT).
According to a Notice of Assignment issued by the court, the matter has been assigned for hearing on a motion relating to the justification of surety filed in connection with the ongoing proceedings.
The notice, signed by J. Amos F. Gbowah, Clerk of Court, Criminal Assizes “C” for Montserrado County, orders all parties and their legal representatives to appear at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
“The case captioned supra is assigned for hearing of the movant’s motion to justify,” the court notice stated. It further states that “the parties and their legal counsels are advised to be present on the date and time mentioned above.”
The case stems from a broader prosecution brought by the Republic of Liberia, acting through AREPT and the Ministry of Justice.
Madam Bundoo is among several individuals named in the proceedings, linked to allegations involving public resources and property.
Court documents list a number of alleged offences, including theft of property, misuse of public money, property or records, criminal conspiracy, forgery, and criminal facilitation.
The former Chief of Protocol, Madam Bundoo alongside several other individuals and business representatives, including officials associated with Gracious Ride, Anita Group of Companies Incorporated, Anita Business Center, and Anita Mining and Agriculture Development Cooperative Society, are named in the case.
AREPT Chairman, Cllr. Edwin K. Martin, is listed among counsel representing the movant, while Cllr. Abraham Wade Simpson and Cllr. M. Wilkins Wright, are identified in court records as counsel for the respondent.
The court has directed the sheriff to serve the notice on all parties and their legal representatives and ensure proof of service is filed with the court.
“You are hereby commanded to notify the parties together with their legal counsels in the above-entitled cause of action to appear before the First Judicial Circuit Court, Criminal Assizes ‘C’ for Montserrado County,” the notice said.
The June 23 hearing is expected to address the motion concerning the adequacy and justification of sureties, a procedural step that could influence the conditions under which the respondent remains before the court as the broader criminal case proceeds.
No ruling has yet been made on the allegations, and the court proceedings remain ongoing. Under Liberian law, all accused persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of competent jurisdiction.
