“Revolutionary Action” Awaits Sen. Kogar

MONROVIA: The Youth League of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), a political party, founded by Nimba County’s charismatic and influential Senator, Prince Y. Johnson (late), has given seventy-two-hour ultimatum to Nimba County Senator, Samuel Kogar, to return all party related materials to the party.

Speaking in an interview with journalists on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the MDR Youth League Chairman, Czar Mabulu Palay, disclosed that their action is predicated on Senator Kogar’s expressed desire to contest as Vice President in the 2029 Presidential and Legislative elections in Liberia.


The Youth League chairman sternly warned Senator Kogar that any failure on his part to not comply with the party’s demand within the given timeframe, it could result in “revolutionary action” against him. The party youth leader did not, however, specify the revolutionary action.

“We are demanding Kogar to return the party’s caps, t-shirts and other items that were given to him, or else, we, as members of the MDR Youth league, will take serious and revolutionary action against Kogar if he fails to meet our deadline,” he stated.


According to him, the expressed political ambition of Senator Kogar for Liberia’s Vice-Presidential position despite a son of Nimba County who is currently occupying the position is intended to cause division in the party and among the people of Nimba County.

The youth league chair noted that the MDR as a political party remains supportive to Liberia’s incumbent Vice President, Jeremiah Kpang Koung, and will encourage citizens and the County to continue supporting the Vice President.


According to Senator Kogar, he will meet with elders, youths, including the Vice President to discuss proposal for him to contest as vice president for any Presidential candidate in the 2029 Presidential and Legislative elections.


“Any Presidential Candidate who wants me to contest as vice President on their ticket, I will go to Nimba County, meet with the elders, the youths and even Vice President Jeremiah Koung to get their approval, yes, I want to be Vice President, but I will get their approval before contesting,” he stated on OK FM.


The statement by the Nimba County Senator has ignited controversies among partisans and supporters of the MDR, thereby leaving citizens to believe the raging leadership fight involving both Koung and Kogar are far from ending.
