MCC, ICA Community Restore Vital Drainage At 18th Street

MONROVIA: Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), has joined leaders, youth, and residents of the ICA- Community in a major cleanup exercise at the intersection of 18th Street and Coleman Avenue in Sinkor. ICA is Insurance Company of Africa.

For years, accumulated plastic waste, vegetation, mud, and other debris had blocked the drainage system in some parts of Sinkor, contributing to severe flooding, stagnant water, health concerns, and major inconvenience for residents and businesses in the area.

As part of the cleanup effort, the MCC provided cleaning tools, safety gear, trucks, a front-end loader, and a backhoe to support the operation.

Sanitation teams and community volunteers worked together to remove the accumulated waste and reopen the drainage channel.

Following the MCC and partners’ intervention, water is now flowing through the drainage, streets are more accessible, and the surrounding community is cleaner and safer.


Residents welcomed the transformation and expressed appreciation to Monrovia City Mayor, John-Charuk Siafa, the MCC, ICA Community leadership, youth, and everyone who contributed to the cleanup effort.

The initiative highlights the importance of community partnership and collective action in addressing sanitation and drainage challenges across Monrovia.
