Africa Driving African Growth -Boakai Hails First Atlantic Bank Launch

MONROVIA: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has declared that Africa's economic future must be shaped by Africans, urging greater regional investment and collaboration as he officially launched and commissioned First Atlantic Bank Liberia, describing the institution's arrival as a major boost to Liberia's investment landscape.
Speaking Friday at the bank's headquarters on 9th Street, Sinkor, President Boakai said, the establishment of the Ghanaian-owned financial institution sends a strong signal that confidence in Liberia's economy is steadily growing despite global economic uncertainties.
"If Africa is going to be built, it has to be built by Africans," the President declared, emphasizing that sustainable economic transformation can only be achieved when Africans invest in and strengthen their own economies.
He described the bank's entry into Liberia as more than a commercial venture, calling it a powerful vote of confidence in the country's improving business climate and a significant milestone in advancing regional economic integration.
"If you don't have confidence in your own economies, who do you expect to have that confidence?" Boakai asked, urging African entrepreneurs and investors to seize opportunities across the continent rather than relying solely on foreign capital.
The President praised the Ghanaian investors behind First Atlantic Bank for demonstrating faith in Liberia through tangible investment instead of rhetoric, saying, their commitment reflects growing optimism about the country's economic direction.
He reaffirmed his administration's determination to create a stable, secure and investor-friendly environment capable of attracting credible local and international investments.
"Africans can trust one another to come and do business, and we want to assure you that our government will work with you to make sure that you succeed," President Boakai assured.
The Liberian leader further disclosed that increasing investor interest in the country reflects confidence in the government's economic reform agenda. He cited positive assessments from the Central Bank of Liberia and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning as evidence that Liberia is making steady progress toward economic recovery and sustainable growth.
"Liberia is now moving in a very serious way," he said. "We are opening up the country and putting in place the conditions that make this environment conducive and attractive for investment."
President Boakai also underscored the enduring diplomatic and economic ties between Liberia and Ghana, expressing confidence that stronger partnerships among African nations will accelerate continental development and prosperity.
The launch of First Atlantic Bank Liberia marks another milestone in the government's drive to expand the country's financial sector, deepen regional economic cooperation and position Liberia as a competitive destination for investment in 8West Africa.
