KAKATA, MARGIBI CO.: Grief and disbelief have engulfed the Telecom Community in Kakata, Margibi County, after three people, including a popular food vendor, her son and other person, were found unresponsive inside a home early Sunday, with authorities yet to establish what caused their deaths.
The deceased have been identified as Nancy Tengbeh, popularly known as “Aunty K,” her son, Abel Flomo, and their neighbor, David Sao.
Their deaths have left residents struggling to understand how three people who reportedly spent the night under the same roof could be found lifeless within hours.
Residents in the community said the three were the only people who slept in the house overnight.
The discovery triggered alarm in the Telecom community, drawing concerned residents who gathered outside as police officers and medical personnel responded to the distressing incident.
According to information gathered by this newspaper, police officers entered the residence after receiving a report about the situation and found all three occupants unresponsive.
Medical personnel were subsequently contacted, and the victims were taken to C.H. Rennie Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
By Sunday morning, the circumstances surrounding the deaths remained unclear. Police had not issued an official statement, and no medical or investigative findings had established the cause of death.
For residents of Telecom Community, the tragedy has transformed an ordinary Sunday morning into a painful episode marked by shock, sorrow and unanswered questions.
Aunty K was known locally as a food vendor, making her death, alongside that of her son, particularly distressing to those familiar with the family.
The death of their neighbor, David Sao, has deepened the community’s uncertainty over what happened inside the house during the night.
Some residents speculated that a charcoal stove Tengbeh had reportedly used to cook bitterball might have been connected to the deaths.
However, that account remains unconfirmed, and there is no established evidence linking the cooking activity to the fatal incident.
The possibility of exposure to smoke or carbon monoxide from charcoal combustion may warrant investigation, but neither has been confirmed as the cause of death.
Only appropriate medical examinations and a thorough investigation can establish what happened.
Residents who gathered at the scene were reportedly seeking explanations as word of the tragedy spread.
Their concerns centered on the sudden loss of three lives and the absence of an immediate official account.
This newspaper contacted police spokesperson, Sam Collins for clarification, but a response had not been received at the time of publication. Collins phone rang endlessly without response.
The absence of an official explanation has left critical questions unanswered, including when the three victims were last seen alive, whether any signs of smoke or other hazardous exposure were found inside the residence, and whether investigators identified anything unusual at the scene.
Authorities are expected to establish the sequence of events, examine the circumstances inside the house and determine whether further forensic or medical investigations are necessary.
Until those findings become available, the reported charcoal-stove theory should not be treated as a conclusion.
Establishing the cause of death is essential not only to provide answers to the bereaved families but also to determine whether the incident presents any wider public-safety concerns.
Beyond the unanswered questions, the tragedy has left Telecom Community confronting the loss of three lives in a single incident.
For the families and those who knew the deceased, the immediate concern is grief, while the wider community waits for an explanation.
The deaths of Tengbeh, her son and Sao underscore the importance of a prompt, transparent investigation into the sudden and unexplained fatalities.
As residents await official findings, the central question remains: What happened inside the house that night?
For now, the answer remains unknown, and the community is left mourning three lives lost under circumstances that authorities have yet to explain.
