Invest In Children’s Education … Trade Unionist Challenges Parents

MONROVIA: A Liberian Trade Unionist, Mr. Tye K.S Jaye, has challenged parents to invest in their children’s education in order to secure them better future.


Mr. Jaye who is the Secretary General of the National Trade Union of Public Service and Allied Workers, expressed the belief that, education will make children grow into responsible citizens, and to enable them contribute to the country’s social economic growth.


According to him, children are the country’s future leaders who need to be given the necessary care and support to realize their full potential for the

benefit of their families, country and the larger society.

Speaking yesterday in the Township of Gardnerville when he served as keynote speaker at program marking the fourth graduation ceremony of the Paul Doe Kindergarten and Day-Care school, Mr. Jaye urged parents to do all in their capacity to give their children good education.

He said, this will enable them to overcome challenges that they might encounter in their journey through life.


He said investing in education was the only legacy parents could bequeath to their offspring and secure them a better future.


He described good education as a holistic one that empowers children spiritually, mentally, psychologically and physically to be focused in life and excel in any endeavor.


Mr. Jaye also said the attempt to belittle formal education as not important should be discarded by the society. He encouraged young people to take their studies seriously and become knowledgeable and successful in life.


He further called on society to discard the notion that investing in the education of girls is not beneficial since they would eventually become housewives.

Mr. Jaye stressed that although government and other institutions continue to invest heavily in the education sector, parents also have a critical role to play by supporting their children with the basic needs required for effective learning.

He urged parents to ensure that children attend school regularly and receive the necessary educational support regardless of their location, religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.
